This would be my favorite house. But of course it is my own (since sold) built in Chisholm MN between 1998-2000 while I also constructed homes for others.
The plans were purchased for a very reasonable cost and I just added areas and features that I liked. The home included over 4000 square feet of living space and a 24 foot cathedral ceiling with a bedroom loft over looking things. I also added window seats and built in Jacuzzi tubs. My kid’s favorite part was the all glass sunroom going out to the double decks. I loved all of it. Part of my heart and soul goes into each one of my houses. I would like to build this one again.
Enjoy!

This is definitely one of the classiest homes I have ever built. Dan and Margie even had a hot tub and pool (in the basement) while living at the lake in Big Sturgeon MN.
Built with another Contractor Bob Ivanca, this project worked for three seasons before it was finished in 1997. It boasts high roof lines, great custom ceilings and lots of square footage. This nice couple completed the interior design decisions with the up most care.
It is a beautiful home and the subcontractors were also all excellent. It ran smoothly and without any problems which we always appreciate. This is a great example of “how it should be done”. I would always welcome more work like this.
Dan and his father Don (who lives next door) are responsible for all the driveways, exterior retaining walls, stair design and landscaping, a project that has obviously taken years to complete. Really fine job boys. Will you ever run out of things to do out there? The house and property still looks great. It was nice seeing Don again in the summer of 2006.
Maybe Dan will send some new interior pictures. I lost all of mine when moving. We were lucky to find these of the early construction.
But check it out and enjoy.

Rocky Raccoon’s “Dan & Nancy” designed this house in Side Lake MN during 1998. Unfortunately the pictures do not due it justice. It was built to replicate a paddle wheel boat that has somehow run aground. Note that Dan finally found that mermaid in the picture I took in 2006. How cool we thought. Too bad you were not at home when we stopped by. I built the home in partnership with another General Contractor and good friend Bob Ivanca who still lives in the area. A house like this takes all the support it can get. Can you believe that we had to purposely wait until winter to pour our foundations? Sure, then we could get to the site by driving our trucks and equipment (yes, concrete trucks) on the frozen lake. I am still shaking my head (I am a native Californian) but we had lots of fun and the house turned out great. Congratulations to Dan and Nancy for a job well done.

This is also awarded the most interesting home of my thirty year career. Thanks for the opportunities guys. Hope to see you on our next trip.

This is another job we did with our friends at Atlas Construction during 2006-07 in Cupertino, Ca. We were framer/carpenter subcontractors so that means we built all of the structure. I’m afraid I couldn’t get back to do the trim (one of my favorite parts) so Atlas with all of their expertise finished off the end of the job for us. Many thanks.
I am learning not to book ourselves so fully. My apologies go to the very nice homeowners. We are gllad that you got in on time. Good luck and enjoy.

This approximately 1000 square foot home was taken down so only the sub-floor and floor framing remained. We then added the visuals like the bay windows and porch. The building was also brought up to local code with some sheer wall systems and additions, along with retro fits made to the foundation. Then a second floor was added and we doubled the size of the home. Atlas Construction also subs out all other work (a great bunch of guys). So the clients ended up with everything brand new in this great looking house. Total time for us to actually build was about seven months.

This is a 3300 square foot very custom home in Los Altos CA that started conception in 2004 and is still not finished. I only put this one on our site to make a couple of points.

1. )To again show the detail and care given to all of our projects, but to also provide a recent example of my work since returning here to CA in 2003.

2.) To also give credit where it is due to our subcontractors. They all did a great job.

3.) And most importantly to show prospective clients the need to realize that tight budgets and expensive upgrades do not go together. We left this job after the money ran out for the customers and we could no longer afford to be there. These unfortunate people have been displaced for almost two years. RNR also suffered losses and it is one of the biggest disappointments of my entire career. I have never imagined something like this could happen, but it did. Be careful with your budget, I will be watching.
